Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education (SEPME) Course

Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education (SEPME) is designed to equip Marines in the ranks of Master Sergeant and First Sergeant with critical thinking and adaptability skills necessary to function at the operational and strategic levels of war. Completion of the course equips senior enlisted Marines with demonstrated proficiency in the Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP), communication and administration. At its highest level, SEPME enhances the senior leader’s ability to provide sound recommendations for mission success. SEPME is offered five times a year.

Reporting Requirements

Prior to reporting to the Senior Enlisted Academy, SEPME students must complete the following requirements:

In order to prepare for instruction at SEPME, before school begins you must thoroughly read the following:

Required Reading

  • All of MCDP 1 (In preparation for a 2-hour small-group guided discussion)
  • MCDP 6 (pages 1-32) (In preparation for a 2-hour small-group guided discussion)
  • MCDP 5 (pages 1-65) (In preparation for a 2-hour small-group guided discussion)
  • MCWP 5-10 (pages 1-1 through 7-2) (in preparation for the Marine Corps Planning Process Practical Exercise)
  • 38th Commandant's Planning Guidance 2019
  • National Security Strategy March 2021
