Lieutenant Colonel Heath Ruppert

Lieutenant Colonel Heath Ruppert was born in Keflavik, Iceland from a U.S Navy family originally from Garner, Iowa.

He earned his commission in August 2002 after graduating from the College of Charleston.  Following The Basic School 2ndLt Ruppert attended naval aviation flight training and was designated a naval aviator on December 16th, 2004 and assigned to follow on training as a CH-53E pilot.

1stLt Ruppert served in HMH-464 as a CH-53E pilot, schedule writer, and command historian.  From October 2005 through February 17th 2006, 1stLt Ruppert deployed to Camp Lemonier Djibouti, Africa (CJTF-HOA) serving as a detachment pilot, schedule writer, and flight-line OIC.  Following a severe aviation mishap in Djibouti, 1stLt Ruppert executed a lateral move and was re-designated as a Financial Management Officer.

1stLt Ruppert reported to II Marine Expeditionary Force where he served in the AC/S G8 as the II MEF budget, exercise, and program objective memorandum (POM) officer.  From June 2008 through October 2009 Captain Ruppert served as the II MEF Staff Secretary. 

Captain Ruppert then deployed as an individual augment to Kabul, Afghanistan where he served as the U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Regional Command-Capital Title 10 Comptroller until April 2010.  Following the deployment Captain Ruppert reported as a student to the Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS), Quantico, VA. 

Upon graduation from EWS in May 2011, Captain Ruppert reported to The Basic School (TBS) where he served as the H&S Company Commander and dual hatted as the Fiscal Officer while instructing and mentoring student officers. 

In May 2013, Captain Ruppert reported as a student to attend the Marine Corps University’s (MCU) Command and Staff College.  Upon graduation he remained at MCU as a student at the School of Advanced Warfighing (SAW). 

Upon graduation from SAW in June 2015, Major Ruppert reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the MAGTF Plans Officer and FDP&E OIC in the AC/S G5 and volunteered as an Expeditionary Warfare School CDET instructor. 

In June 2018, LtCol Ruppert reported to MARFORCOM / FMFLANT and served as the Program Development (POM) Branch Head and Deputy AC/S G8. 

In June 2021, LtCol Ruppert assumed his current duties as the Deputy Director of the School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW) at Marine Corps University, Quantico, Va.
