Andrea Hamlen-Ridgely joined the Marine Corps University faculty in 2007 and is one of the founding members of the Leadership Communication Skills Center, a writing and speaking instructional unit for the University’s degree-granting schools. In her position, Ms. Hamlen-Ridgely assists students to improve their written and oral communication skills through one-on-one consultations, courses, and workshops that focus on oral presentation skills, grammar, rhetorical strategies, research methods, and the writing process. She also assists faculty to provide usable, constructive feedback on written work and to design assignments that encourage critical and creative thinking. In addition to her teaching and mentoring, Ms. Hamlen-Ridgely serves as the lead editor of the MCU Communications Style Guide, the official writing guide for MCU degree-granting schools.

Ms. Hamlen-Ridgely holds a BA in English from the University of Mary Washington and an MEd in Adult Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Her research interests include writing center pedagogy, strategies for facilitating creative problem solving, and information literacy in higher education.
