Major Jared H. Juntunen is a Military Faculty Advisor at Marine Corps University. A career MV-22B and VH-92 Presidential Helicopter pilot with more than 2,000 flight hours, he has extensive operational and expeditionary experience spanning the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Presidential executive transport.
He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in September 2010 after graduating from California State University, Sacramento, and completed The Basic School at Quantico, Virginia. Following flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, he was designated a Naval Aviator in November 2013 and trained in the MV-22B at VMMT-204.
Subsequent assignments included the VMM-161 "Greyhawks" at MCAS Miramar, deploying twice with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit; and Operations Officer with VMM-363 "Lucky Red Lions" at MCBH Kaneohe Bay, deploying twice to Marine Rotational Force–Darwin, Australia; and assignment to HMX-1, where he became the first squadron Osprey pilot to transition to the VH-92 Presidential Helicopter.
Across four deployments he flew more than 30 combat hours over Northern Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and planned and executed numerous joint and combined exercises, including RIMPAC and the first embarked night operations of MV-22B Ospreys aboard an Australian Canberra-class ship. As a White House Liaison Officer at HMX-1, he supported high-visibility Presidential missions, including the 2025 visit to Riyadh and the 2025 U.S.–Russia Summit in Alaska.
He holds a B.A. in International Relations from California State University, Sacramento, and is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Presidential Service Badge.
