Lieutenant Colonel Øyvind Arne Nord Berg serves as a Military Faculty Advisor at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
A native of Moss, Norway, Lieutenant Colonel Berg commissioned as an Infantry Officer from the Norwegian Military Academy (Krigsskolen) in 2004.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commanding Officer of the Norwegian Army Military Intelligence Battalion (MIBN) from 2022 to 2025.
Following three years of service with Jaeger units in Finnmark, Lieutenant Colonel Berg joined the Military Intelligence Battalion in 2006 as a Single Source Analyst with the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) Company. He subsequently served as a Patrol Leader with the LRRP Company, Collection Manager on the battalion staff, and Platoon Leader within an All-Source Intelligence Cell (ASIC). His staff assignments include Assistant G-2 Plans for both Brigade North and the Norwegian Army Staff. From 2015 to 2018, he commanded the MIBN Production and Analysis Company.
Lieutenant Colonel Berg deployed to Afghanistan three times in support of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission between 2005 and 2012.
His military education includes attendance at the Infantry Noncommissioned Officer School in Harstad from 2000 to 2001 and the Norwegian Military Academy from 2002 to 2004, where he graduated first in his class. In 2010, he completed the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Captain's Career Course (MICCC). He attended the Norwegian Joint Staff College (Stabsskolen) from 2018 to 2019 and earned a Master of Arts degree in Conflict, Security, and Cultural Studies from the University of Tromsø in 2015. In June 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Berg graduated from the Marine Corps War College.
