Major Brian M. Ebenal, USMC

Major Brian M. Ebenal graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in History and Foreign Affairs and commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2011. After completing The Basic School and the Signals Intelligence Officers Course, he reported to 2d Radio Battalion, where he served as a platoon commander leading Marines in signals intelligence operations. He deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force–Crisis Response before serving as the executive officer of Radio Reconnaissance Company.

In 2015, Major Ebenal joined 3d Marine Special Operations Support Battalion as a Direct Support Team commander, leading intelligence Marines in support of special operations. He deployed with Marine Special Operations Company Lima to support Special Operations Command Africa and was later selected as an exchange officer with the Australian Army's 7th Signal Regiment. During that assignment, he worked alongside both conventional Australian forces and the Special Air Service Regiment, strengthening allied intelligence integration.

Returning to Marine Forces Special Operations Command in 2020, Major Ebenal again led a Direct Support Team before deploying as the Intelligence Officer for Special Operations Task Force–Syria in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Following deployment, he assumed command of Intelligence Company, 3d Marine Raider Support Battalion, where he led Marines providing intelligence support to global special operations missions. After relinquishing command, he deployed in support of Special Operations Command Europe during the Ukraine crisis.

In 2024, Major Ebenal became the Intelligence Officer for 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, supporting annual deployments to the Philippines and regional deterrence efforts in the Indo-Pacific. In 2026, he joined the Marine Corps Command and Staff College faculty, where he continues to develop future leaders while drawing on operational experience leading small teams in intelligence and special operations environments.
