Seán D. Griffin, Major (Ret), USMC

Seán Griffin is serving in his fifth faculty billet at Marine Corps University, dating back to 1997.  He served as a Faculty Advisor at both Amphibious Warfare School and Expeditionary Warfare School, as an Instructor and International Military Student Officer for the EWSDEP Blended Seminar Program, and as a Portfolio Manager and Adjunct Faculty Instructor for the Continuing Education Program.

He has served as a Marine Officer Instructor in the Department of Naval Science at Ohio State University, as a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Germanna Community College, and is currently a member of the Adjunct Faculty at the United States Naval Community College and the Adjunct Faculty at the College of Distance Education and Training’s Command and Staff College Distance Education Program. 

While on active duty, his supporting establishment tours included the education billets described above and as the Facilities Maintenance Officer for Camp Butler, Japan.

In the Fleet Marine Force, he participated in Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM and SUPPORT/UPHOLD DEMOCRACY in the Republic of Haiti. He served as a battalion, regimental and SPMAGTF S-2, and was the engineer on the G-4 staff for a MEB and a MAW. He led six different engineer support platoons and commanded a Bridge Company.

Seán Griffin retired from the United States Marine Corps in 2008 after twenty years of active duty.
