Biography

Expeditionary Warfare School
Major Andrew C. Cruz, USMC

Major Cruz currently serves as the Faculty Advisor for CG-7, Teaching Team Lead for Teaching Team-2, and the Engineer Occupational Field Expansion Course Lead.

He graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 2010 and was commissioned into the Marine Corps. After graduating from The Basic School and Marine Corps Engineer School in 2011, he was assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion. During this tour he served as Company Commander, Company Executive Officer, Platoon Commander, Battalion Intelligence Officer, and Current Operations Officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on a Police Advisor Team. Additionally, in 2015 he supported Exercise Eastern Accord in Uganda, advising the Burundian Army.

From 2015 to 2018, Major Cruz served at Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group in Twentynine Palms, California. His roles included Academics Officer for the Expeditionary Logistics Section, General Engineering Exercise Officer in Charge, and Observer/Trainer/Controller for Logistics Staff Training Exercises.

In 2018, he assumed Company Command at 1st Combat Engineer Battalion aboard Camp Pendleton, California and later served as the Battalion Logistics Officer.

In 2020, he joined Combat Logistics Battalion 11 as Operations Officer, transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 15 in the same role, and deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of WESTPAC 21.1 and Operation OCTAVE QUARTZ.

He attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2021, earning a Master of Military Studies. Upon graduation in 2022, he served at the Pentagon for the Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics as the Engineer Capabilities Officer for the Marine Corps. In 2024, he joined Expeditionary Warfare School, serving as Faculty Advisor for Conference Group 12 before assuming his current position.
