Colonel Lehane is the Director of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. A native of West Hempstead, NY, he graduated from the NY State Maritime College in 1996 and was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps the same year. Over nearly three decades, he has held a wide range of command and staff positions across the Fleet Marine Force, joint commands, and training institutions.
His operational assignments include roles with 3d Battalion, 11th and 12th Marines, III MEF, and the 31st MEU. He commanded at multiple levels, culminating as Commanding Officer of the 3d Marine Littoral Regiment (2023–2025). He also served as Fleet Marine Officer and Director of the Maritime Operations Center for U.S. SEVENTH Fleet (2019–2023).
Colonel Lehane has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, TOMODACHI, PACIFIC PASSAGE, and DAMAYAN, and served aboard numerous U.S. Navy vessels including USS ESSEX, USS BONHOMME RICHARD, and USS BLUE RIDGE.
His training and staff roles include leadership at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, MCRD San Diego, and Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1. He also served in strategic planning roles with Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea.
Colonel Lehane is a graduate of numerous military education programs, including the WTI and OTI Courses, the School of Advanced Warfighting, and the U.S. Army War College, where he was a Distinguished Graduate. He is a Joint Qualified Officer.
His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2), Meritorious Service Medal (4), and several other commendations recognizing his service and leadership.
