Dr. Tammy S. Schultz is Director of National Security and Professor of Strategic Studies at the U.S. Marine Corps War College. She teaches senior military officers on strategy, civil-military relations, and the role of military and civilian instruments of power in national security decision-making.
Dr. Schultz has extensive experience designing and delivering professional military education for field-grade and senior officers, with a focus on strategic thinking, communication, and decision-making in complex operational environments. She regularly leads seminars, simulations, and executive-level engagements supporting interagency and national security professionals.
Prior to joining the Marine Corps War College, Dr. Schultz served in research and policy roles supporting defense and stability operations, including work with the U.S. Army’s Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute. She has also held research fellowships with leading national security institutions.
Dr. Schultz received the Dr. Elihu Rose Award for Teaching Excellence at Marine Corps University and was the War College’s civilian nominee the following year.
She holds a Ph.D. in government and has published on national security, military effectiveness, and civil-military issues. Her work focuses on understanding the strategic and operational challenges facing military leaders.
