Kelly J. Scanlon, Master Gunnery Sergeant (Ret), USMC

Kelly Scanlon served on active duty from 1979 to 2011. Initially assigned within the personnel administration MOS, he fulfilled duties as a training NCO, intelligence NCO, administration chief, platoon sergeant and company gunnery sergeant. His special duty assignments included Drill Instructor Duty, Inspector-Instructor Duty, and he also served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to a Recruiting Station Commanding Officer.

Upon selection to Master Gunnery Sergeant, he served as the Director of the Sergeants Course, SNCOA aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Task Combat Center, Twenty-Nine Palms, California and culminated his career serving as the first Director of the Marine Corps Senior Enlisted Courses, Marine Corps University, from 2008-2011.

Kelly Scanlon has served in his present capacity as a Staff Mentor/Instructor, primarily supporting the Senior Enlisted Courses, Sergeant’s Major Courses and First Sergeant’s Courses since October 2011.
