Expeditionary Warfare School
Major David A. Perez, USMC

Major David A. Perez is a native of Miami, FL. In 2010, he attended Officer Candidates School to complete the Platoon Leader’s Course. Major Perez graduated from Florida International University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Middle Eastern Studies. Subsequently, he accepted his commission and reported to The Basic School as a student officer in Company D, 4-13. He earned the primary MOS of 1803 and completed the Assault Amphibian Officer’s Course in 2014.

In May 2014, he reported to 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion and took command of 3rd Platoon, Company D. Following the retirement of Company D, he took command of 1st Platoon, Company B and deployed in support of Unit Deployment Program 15.1 to Okinawa, Japan. In March 2016, he deployed to the Baltic region aboard the USS Carter Hall. After returning to Camp Lejeune, he was reassigned as the Executive Officer, H&S Company.

In December 2016, he received orders to The Basic School. Major Perez served as a Warfighting Instructor in the Marine Air Ground Task Force section where he assumed primary duties for WARFEX and the amphibious package. From April 2017 to May 2019, he served as Staff Platoon Commander for 5-17, 3-18, and 1-19. He was later selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School, AY20. Upon graduation, Major Perez augmented at Officer Candidates School and served as Platoon Commander for OCC-234. In August, he graduated from American Military University with a Master of Arts, Intelligence Studies.

In September 2020, he received orders to 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion and served as the Battalion S4 and ACV Company Commander, Company C. In July 2022, he received orders to Expeditionary Warfare School. He served as Faculty Advisor for AY23 and AY24. He is currently serving as the defense sub-course director and Faculty Advisor for AY25.
