Mr. Tim Barrick, Colonel (Ret), USMC, is the Wargaming Director for Marine Corps University and is part of the Brute Krulak Center for Innovation and Future Warfare in Quantico, Virginia. He is the lead game designer for the Operational Wargame System (OWS) used by the Marine Corps and various organizations across the U.S. Department of Defense and NATO allies. He served on active duty for 29 years, including tours as the Wargaming Director for the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab leading force development wargaming for Marine Corps Force Design, the Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Tactics & Operations Group, and Commanding Officer 1st Tank Battalion. He served three combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. In multiple billets, he was lead planner for various contingency plans, supported development of OPLANS, and developed wargames and staff exercises for real and potential contingencies in every major theater across INDOPACOM, CENTCOM, AFRICOM and EUCOM from the tactical to the strategic level. He is also an avid hobby wargamer and game designer. On the education side, he is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Naval War College, the Marine Corps War College, and American Military University, and he holds three masters degrees.
