Mr. Post is the State Department Chair at MCWAR. He joined the Foreign Service in 1999 and is a member of the Senior Foreign Service, with rank of Minister-Counselor.
Prior to his assignment at MCWAR, Jon was the Minister Counselor for Management Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland from September 2021 to July 2024. While there he was responsible for supporting four Ambassadors, including the U.S. delegations to the Conference on Disarmament, the World Trade Organization, and the U.N. Human Rights Council.
Before Geneva, Jon served in Baghdad from July 2020 to July 2021 as the Mission Iraq Management Counselor, directing support for nearly 7,000 USG employees, contractors, and military personnel at four locations in Iraq. He was the Deputy Management Counselor in Amman, Jordan from 2017 to 2020, and from 2016-2017, Director of the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center, responsible for 2,500 State Department, U.S. and Coalition military personnel, and contractors at Baghdad International Airport.
Jon was the Management Officer at Embassy Beirut from 2015-2016. From 2011 to 2015, he served in Washington in the Near Eastern Affairs/South and Central Asian Affairs Executive Office as a Post Management Officer for Afghanistan, overseeing a nearly $1 billion operating budget, and later as the NEA-SCA/EX HR Director. In 2010 to 2011 Jon was the State Department liaison to the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Qal-e-Now, Badghis Province, Afghanistan with the Coalition PRT (Spain). Other overseas tours include Belgrade, Manama, and Santo Domingo and domestically in the Bureau of European Affairs/International Organizations Executive Office (EUR-IO/EX) financial management office.
Jon received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University, his M.B.A from U.C. Irvine, and he is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College. He served on active duty in the Marine Corps and is retired from the Marine Corps Reserve.
