Event Template and Matrix is derived from the Situation Template.
Narrator: The Event Template and its accompanying matrix identify and analyze significant battlefield events an activities, or lack thereof, that provide indicators of enemy courses of action. The Event Matrix contains such things as named areas of interest, or NAIs, the times when each NAI becomes effective, the events and indicators that the NAIs provide, and any necessary remarks. It facilitates comparing what the enemy can do with what he is doing, and thus predict what he will do next. The G-2 uses the event template and event matrix to designate NAIs on the battlefield for the collection plan, and includes Time-Phase Lines or TPLs to identify critical times and the movement of forces, or the expected flow of the operation, to ensure the effective use of collection assets.
