Mr. Keil Gentry, USMC

 

Upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1986, he was commissioned and subsequently trained as an artillery officer. Throughout his career, he served in a variety of command and staff billets. As a lieutenant, he served as 2d Platoon Commander and Executive Officer, Battery F, 2d Battalion, 12th Marines. As a captain, he served in in a variety of billets in the 2d Air and Naval Gunfire Liaison Company; Commanding Officer, Battery T and Operations Officer, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines; and Fire Support Officer, 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable).  As a major, he served as Assistant Operations Officer, 10th Marines; Fire Support Officer, Joint Special Operations Command; and as Executive Officer, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines.  As a lieutenant colonel, he served as the Logistics Officer and Operations Officer, 11th Marines; the Fires and Information Operations Officer, 1st Marine Division; Executive Officer, Regimental Combat Team 1; and Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines.  As a colonel, he served as the Head of National Plans, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps; Commanding Officer, 12th Marines; Deputy Legislative Assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps; and Director of the Marine Corps War College.  He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in  2016.

He currently serves as the Vice President for Business Affairs for Marine Corps University / Education Command.

His education includes a B.S. in English from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff.  Additionally, he completed non-degree producing courses of study in Joint Professional Military Education at the Armed Forces Staff College, Strategic Studies at the NATO Defense College, and Foreign Politics, International Relations, and the National Interest as a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellow.

He participated in multiple named contingency operations to include:  PROVIDE COMFORT, PROVIDE PROMISE, JOINT ENDEAVOR, ASSURED RESPONSE, QUICK RESPONSE, ENDURING FREEDOM (Iraq), IRAQI FREEDOM, AL FAJR, and TOMODACHI.
