Narrator: To be adopted as the plan, a COA has to survive two sets of evaluation criteria. The first requires that a COA be suitable, feasible, acceptable, distinguishable, and complete. The second set of criteria is directed by the commander which may include: The Principles of War; Limitation on casualties; Exploitation of friendly strengths against enemy weaknesses; Defeat of enemy COGs; population considerations; Asymmetrical operations; Opportunity for maneuver; Concentration of Combat Power; Speed; Mass versus dispersion; Risk; Phasing; Weighting the main effort; Logistical supportability; Political considerations; Force protection; and operation timing, just to mention a few.
