COA WAR GAME
ACTIVITIES
Narrator: During COA wargaming, the OPT evaluates the effectiveness of friendly courses of action against enemy courses of action using the commander's evaluation criteria. Wargaming does not compare friendly courses of action against each other. Each friendly course of action is wargamed independently. Wargaming helps the commander determine how best to apply his strength against the enemy's critical vulnerabilities while protecting his critical vulnerabilities. These are the primary wargaming activities.
- Red cell brief
- Gain understanding of possible adversary COAs
- Green cell brief
- Gain understanding of possible populace actions
- Conduct COA war game turns
- Friendly action
- Enemy reaction (red cell) and Civ reaction (green cell)
- Friendly counteraction
- COA refinement recommendations
- Refine staff estimates and estimates of supportability
- Prepare COA war game brief
- Refine IPB products
