Narrator: The commander issued his commander's intent — a personal expression of the purpose of the operation and endstate — to kick off the planning process. After reviewing the Problem Framing Brief and the mission statement, the commander may wish to refine his intent. Commander's intent is critical since it gives subordinates the context of their actions and enables them to use their judgement in the absence of orders.
