Narrator: The mission statement is a key element in successful Problem Framing. The mission statement should provide a clear understanding of the purpose of the operation, the area of the operation, who is to perform the mission, when the operation will begin, and the essential tasks that need to be performed. Once the commander has refined and/or approved the mission statement, it will become paragraph 2 of the 5-paragraph operation plan or operation order.
