8-23 Brief Purpose

CO: During the confirmation brief, the subordinate commander briefs me on his understanding of the intent, and allows me and my staff to identify gaps in the plan, identify discrepancies between my plan and subordinate commanders' plans, and learn how subordinate commanders intend to accomplish the mission. The Confirmation Brief provides valuable feedback to me as the senior commander on the understanding of my intent, the specific tasks and purpose for subordinate units, and the relationships between unit missions.
