Sync Matrix
Narrator: The synchronization matrix, developed during COA development is fleshed out during the course of the war game, facilitating the writing of several key portions of the order, should it be selected as the basis for the plan. By working vertically by stage across the matrix for each warfighting function, planners are able to describe in writing a clear concept of operations for each warfighting function. But be careful not to use the synchronization matrix to overly script the actions of subordinate units with expectations of specific outcomes. If a plan is too tightly coupled, it lacks the flexibility to address the inherent friction and uncertainly resident in military operations.
