Narrator: The commander's critical information requirements identify information on friendly activities, enemy activities, and the environment that the commander deems critical to maintaining situational awareness, planning future activities, and assisting in timely and informed decision making. Commanders use CCIRs to help them confirm their vision of the battlespace, assess desired effects, and how they will achieve a decision to accomplish their mission or to identify significant deviations from that vision.
A priority intelligence requirement, or PIR, is an intelligence requirement associated with a decision that will critically affect the overall success of the command's mission.
A friendly force information requirement or FFIR is information that the commander needs about friendly forces to develop plans and make effective decisions. Depending on the circumstances, information on unit location, composition, readiness, personnel status, and logistic status could become a friendly force information requirement.
Information Requirements, or IRs, are those items of information regarding the enemy and his environment which need to be collected and processed in order to meet the intelligence requirements of a commander.
