1-14 Intelligence

Narrator: Intelligence provides the commander with an understanding of the enemy and the operational environment as well as identifying the enemy's centers of gravity and critical vulnerabilities. It assists the commander in understanding the situation, alerts him to new opportunities, and helps him assess the effects of actions upon the enemy and indigenous populace. This warfighting function supports and is integrated with the overall operational effort and must always be focused on the commander's intelligence requirements.
