Biography

Command and Staff College
Bradford A. Wineman​, Ph.D.

Dr. Wineman was appointed to the Command and Staff College teaching faculty in July 2008, serving as War Studies Department head from 2012-15. Prior to this position, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Military History, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College since 2006. He received his B.A. in History from the Virginia Military Institute in 1999. He earned his M.A. (2001) and PhD (2006) in History from Texas A&M University, where he research focused on antebellum Southern military education. From 2003 to 2006, he served as a history instructor at VMI and earned the Corps of Cadets Mentor Award in 2006. Dr. Wineman is a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His other teaching duties have included Johnson County (KS) Community College, College of Southern Maryland, Norwich University Masters of Military History Program and Georgetown University Security Studies Program. He is also an instructor for the USMC Command & Staff Distance Education Course (CDET) and teaches courses for the USMC Staff NCO Academy (SNCOA) and Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education (SEPME).

His research specialties include American military education and civil-military relations. He has written booklets on the Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville Campaigns for the Center of Military History as well as several other chapters on the Civil War, military education and civil military topics.
