Brigadier General Jay M. Bargeron

Brigadier General Bargeron enlisted in the Navy in 1984 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1989 after graduating from the University of Florida.

His command tours include platoon and company level commands in 2d and 8th Marine Regiments, Commanding Officer of 2d Battalion, 8th Marines, Commanding Officer, 7th Marine Regiment, and Commanding Officer, Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force—Crisis Response—Central Command.
 
Brigadier General Bargeron’s operational deployments include Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM, Haitian Migrant Relief Operations in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Operation NEW HORIZONS in Port Au Prince, Haiti, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. 

His Staff tours include assignments as a Ground Combat Analyst, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, 2d Marine Division Staff Secretary, I MEF G-3 Future Operations Planner, Regional Planner in the I MEF G-5, Executive Officer of Regimental Combat Team 5, 2d Marine Division Operations Officer, Current Operations Officer for the 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, the Ground Officer Assignments Monitor at HQMC, M&RA., and Director, Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group, Twentynine Palms, CA.  His last assignment was as the Deputy Director of Operations J-3, U.S. European Command headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. 
 
Brigadier General Bargeron is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the National War College.
