Lieutenant Colonel Nucci currently serves a Military Faculty Advisor at the Command & Staff College. Prior billets within Marine Corps University included Deputy Director for the IT Directorate and the Vice President for Business Affairs.
From 2012 to 2014, he served at 1st Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton as the Regimental Air Officer. During this tour, he joined Regimental Combat Team 7 for a year-long deployment in support of OEF where he served as the Future Plans Officer. Upon return from this deployment in fall 2013, he assumed responsibilities as the Operations Officer for 1st Marine Regiment (CONUS).
From 2010 to 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Nucci served as Avionics Officer, Logistics Officer, and Operations Officer of VMFA(AW)-225 Vikings. During this tour, he deployed to WESTPAC, conducting training operations in Guam, Japan, Okinawa, and South Korea. Prior to this, he served at 3D Marine Aircraft Wing as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G-5 / Plans Officer from 2008-2010.
Before this tour at MCAS Miramar, Lieutenant Colonel Nucci served in a variety of billets within Headquarters Marines Corps, Programs & Resources as part of a graduate program payback tour. During this tour, he also deployed to the Combined Air & Space Operations Center (CAOC) at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where he served on the CAOC floor as the Senior Offensive Duty Officer for all fixed-wing TACAIR in support of OEF.
Lieutenant Colonel Nucci’s first fleet tour was with VMFA(AW)-332 Moonlighters at MCAS Beaufort from 2001-2004. During this tour, he served as a Schedules Writer, Powerline Division Officer, Quality Assurance Division Officer, and Training Officer. He deployed twice during this tour, including contingency operations in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and SOUTHERN WATCH; as well training operations with joint and coalition military forces in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Australia.
His initial tours following commissioning included The Basic School at MCB Quantico, flight training at NAS Pensacola, and initial training in the F/A-18D VMFAT-101 at MCAS Miramar.
Lieutenant Colonel Nucci holds an BS in Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from the Naval Postgraduate School. His decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
