Lieutenant Colonel Erin K. McHale was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.  She is a graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York with a degree in Criminal Justice, minor in Psychology.  She was commissioned May of 1998 and following Logistics Officer’s Course,  reported into 2D Supply Battalion, 2D FSSG in September 1999.

Lieutenant Colonel McHale served as the Motor Transport/Maintenance Management Officer and Battalion S-4.  In June of 2000, Lieutenant Colonel McHale was flown to the Mediterranean to assume the duties as the S-4A of Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Service Support Group (MSSG) 24, 24th MEU.  She finished the remaining deployed time with the unit and upon returning, fell into the workup cycle for the next deployment.  She participated in Operation’s Cooperative Partner, Mediterranean Shark, and Albanian PHIBLEX.  Upon returning from the second deployment, Lieutenant Colonel McHale returned to Supply Battalion in January 2002 to assume the duties of the S-3A. 

From June 2002 to June 2005, Lieutenant Colonel McHale assumed the duties of the Base Operations Officer, 1st Marine Corps District, Garden City, NY.  Upon graduating from Expeditionary Warfare School in June 2006, Lieutenant Colonel McHale served as a Platoon Commander at Officer’s Candidate School until September 2006 when she was transferred to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron-2, 2D Marine Aircraft Wing and assumed the duties of the S-4.  During this tour, Lieutenant Colonel McHale deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 07-09 and returned for OIF 08-10 to serve as the Headquarters Squadron Detachment OIC. 

Lieutenant Colonel McHale assumed the duties as the Operations Officer, Wounded Warrior Battalion-East in August 2009.  After her transfer to Combat Logistics Regiment 27 in August of 2011, she was sent to augment II Marine Expeditionary Force as a Future Operations Planner in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11.2.  Upon her return from Afghanistan in March of 2012, Lieutenant Colonel McHale assumed the duties as the Combat Logistics Regiment 27 Executive Officer until August of 2012 when she executed orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 22 to serve as the Battalion Executive Officer. 

Lieutenant Colonel McHale served as the CLB-22 Executive Officer and the Executive Officer of Troops aboard the USS MESA VERDE for the 22d MEU deployment from February to October 2014.  She also served as the MEU liaison to the Joint Forces Landing Component Commander for Iraq contingency planning during the summer of 2014.  Upon returning from deployment, Lieutenant Colonel McHale reported to Twentynine Palms, CA, to assume command of Combat Logistics Battalion 7 in October of 2015.  She deployed as the Logistics Combat Element in support of SPMAGTF-CR-CC and relinquished command in June of 2017.  Lieutenant Colonel McHale reported to her current position as a Military Faculty Advisor, Command and Staff College in July of 2017.    

Lieutenant Colonel McHale’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
