1997 Light infantry company commander, battalion assistant operations officer, brigade assistant logistics officer, bridge training officer, battalion S-3 air and platoon leader; deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Guard

U.S. Embassy, Beijing
(traveled to over 40 different cities in China and 12 surrounding countries gaining a better understanding for the Asia Pacific region)

Military Training Team (MiTT) Team Leader; deployed to Sadr City Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division’s 2nd Brigade (Falcons) and 4th Infantry Division’s 3rd Brigade (Iron Brigade)
(Shia uprising, Gold Wall built in Sadr City)

2009-2011 Operations officer for 2nd Squadron 14th Cavalry and the 25th Infantry Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
(deployed his squadron to India in support of Operation Yudh Abhyas and deployed the battalion to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn in Baghdad, Iraq)

2011-2012 Force protection officer for 25th Infantry Division, Scofield Barracks, Hawaii; deployed to Iraq
(responsible for completing the final nine base transitions to draw down U.S. Forces in Southern Iraq while maintaining essential protection assets to cover through the last ground movement out of theater)

2012-2014 Team Chief for the Army Operations Center, in the National Military Command Center
(reporting on and synchronizing current operations for senior Army officials)

Assistant professor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Department of Tactics

Colonel Armstrong served in a variety of senior staff, command, and advisory positions within the Army over the last two decades of service to the Nation.
