Brigadier General Jay M. Bargeron
Brigadier General Jay M. Bargeron enlisted in the Navy in 1984 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1989 after graduating from the University of Florida.
His command tours include platoon and company level commands in 2d and 8th Marine Regiments, Commanding Officer of 2d Battalion, 8th Marines, Commanding Officer of 7th Marine Regiment, and Commanding Officer of Special Purpose Marine Air -Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command.
Brigadier General Bargeron’s operational deployments include Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM, Haitian Migrant Relief Operations in Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Operation NEW HORIZONS in Port Au Prince, Haiti, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
His staff tours include assignments at Marine Corps Combat Development Command as a Ground Combat Analyst, 2d Marine Division as Staff Secretary, I MEF G-3 as Future Operations Planner, I MEF G-5 as Regional Planner, Regimental Combat Team 5 as Executive Officer, 2d Marine Division as Operations Officer, 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade as Current Operations Officer in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, HQMC Manpower & Reserve Affairs as Ground Officer Assignments Monitor, and Director, Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group. His last assignment was at U.S. European Command as the Deputy Director of Plans and Operations J-3.
Brigadier General Bargeron is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, the School of Advanced Warfighting, and the National War College.
